What is shilajit?

Shilajit is an ancient resin often used in Ayurvedic medicine. It is not a herb, but a natural mineral deposit/tar-like resin that is pressed out from layers of rock found in the sacred Himalayas.

Shilajit resin forms from decayed plant materials over the course of hundreds of years. As a result, Shilajit has a host of vitamins, minerals, trace elements along with Humic acid, and Fulvic acid.

History of Himalayan Shilajit

About 50 million years ago, the Indian continent collided into Asia and formed the Himalayan mountain range. As the mountains formed, tropical forests were crushed and compacted between massive boulders.

The compressed forests gradually transformed into a nutrient- and mineral-rich biomass loaded with powerful humic and fulvic acids. Now, every summer as the mountains warm, India's most prized herbal remedy literally oozes from these biomass resins in the high mountain crevasses.

Suryatapi method

During the traditional purification process, raw Shilajit rock is first washed and dissolved in cow’s milk to let the dust particles settle at bottom. We have decided to modernise this method, and make our Shilajit 100% vegan; instead of cow's milk, we use spring water.

Then the solution is filtered in a different stainless steel vessel with the help of double layered virgin muslin cloth and placed in bright Sun light till the light brown coloured cream (Shilajit cream) is formed on the upper surface and this cream is repeatedly collected from the vessel. The process of filtration is repeated again and again for collecting the Shilajit cream till our experts are satisfied that they have extracted and collected the best from the raw shilajit rock. This Shilajit cream which is collected is then added in the decoction of  Amalaki (Emblica officinalis), Bibhitaki (Terminalia bellirica), and Haritaki (Terminalia chebula) for further purification (Shudikaran).

The Sun drying process (Surya Taapi Vidhi) of Shilajit solution is continued for months till the light brown cream totally disappears to form on the solution and the cream is repeatedly collected from the vessel. Now finally the collected Shilajit cream is kept in Sun again for the evaporation of water content. This extensive sun drying purification process for developing the Pure Shilajit is a well controlled method of exposure to the bright sun rays for approximate 90-day period in summers.
